Salato
Acceptable Use Policy
Salato is a platform for selling and managing tickets to events. This policy explains what you may and may not do when you use Salato, whether you are an event organiser selling tickets or an attendee buying them. By creating an account, publishing an event, or purchasing a ticket, you agree to use Salato in line with this policy. We may update it from time to time; the current version always lives at this page.
Who this applies to
This policy applies to everyone who uses Salato: organisers, their staff and scanners, attendees, and anyone who accesses the platform or the tickets it produces. Organisers are responsible for making sure their own team follows these rules.
What you can use Salato for
Salato is intended for lawful, genuine event ticketing. You may:
- Create events and sell tickets to real events you are authorised to organise.
- Set your own ticket types, prices and refund terms, within this policy and our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
- Collect only the attendee information you need to admit people to your event.
- Scan and verify tickets at your event using the QR codes Salato issues.
- Buy tickets for yourself or others and receive them by email and WhatsApp.
What you must not do
You may not use Salato to:
- Sell tickets to events you are not authorised to organise, or to events that do not genuinely exist.
- Sell anything other than event tickets and directly related add-ons. Salato is not a marketplace for physical goods, and physical goods may not be listed or sold through it.
- Break any applicable law, or sell tickets to any event that is itself unlawful.
- Sell tickets to events promoting violence, hate, harassment, or discrimination on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, disability, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic.
- Facilitate fraud, money laundering, or the financing of any illegal activity.
- Sell access to sexual services, or to any event that exploits or endangers minors.
- Sell alcohol, tobacco, drugs, weapons, or any controlled or age-restricted product as if Salato were a shop for them.
- Misrepresent an event — its date, venue, line-up, capacity, or what a ticket includes.
- Deceive buyers about refund terms, fees, or who is running the event.
- Resell, duplicate, forge, or tamper with tickets or QR codes, or attempt to reuse a single-use ticket.
- Chargeback abuse, or make payments you know or suspect to be fraudulent.
Protecting the platform
To keep Salato safe and reliable for everyone, you must not:
- Access another person's account, or share credentials that let someone impersonate an organiser or admin.
- Probe, scan, or test the security of the platform without our written permission.
- Introduce malware, or attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorised access to Salato or its infrastructure.
- Scrape, harvest, or bulk-collect data from the platform, including attendee data, beyond what you are entitled to as an organiser for your own events.
- Interfere with the payment, ticket generation, scanning, or notification systems.
Attendee data
Organisers receive attendee information so they can run their events. If you are an organiser, you must use that information only to deliver and manage the event the attendee bought a ticket for. You must not sell attendee data, or use it for unrelated marketing without the attendee's consent, and you must keep it secure. You remain responsible for complying with Kenya's Data Protection Act and any other data protection law that applies to you.
Payments
Payments on Salato are processed by our payment partner. Each organiser receives funds into their own connected settlement account, and Salato takes only its platform commission. Salato does not hold organiser funds, does not operate wallets or stored balances, and does not enable transfers of value between users. You must not use Salato to move money for any purpose other than paying for tickets to a genuine event.
What happens if you break this policy
If we believe you have breached this policy, we may — depending on how serious the breach is — warn you, remove an event or listing, suspend your ability to sell tickets, hold or reverse a payout, or close your account. Where an event has clearly not been delivered as advertised, we may suspend the organiser and support affected buyers with refunds through our payment partner. Serious breaches, including fraud or anything that endangers people, may be reported to the relevant authorities. We may act immediately and without notice where there is a risk to attendees, buyers, or the platform.
Reporting a problem
If you come across an event, organiser, or ticket on Salato that you think breaks this policy, tell us at [email protected]. Include the event name and any details that help us look into it. We review every report.
