About us
We built the tool
we kept wishing for.
Salato is made in Nairobi by people who have stood at a gate with a printed list and a torch, arguing about a screenshot.
Selling tickets here has always worked, technically. You post a poster with a till number, buyers send money, someone screenshots the confirmation, and a person at the door checks names against a phone. It works right up until it doesn't — a queue forms, a screenshot gets forwarded to four friends, and nobody can tell you at 9 PM how many people have actually paid.
Salato replaces that whole chain with one link. You create the event, set your ticket types, and share the page. Every payment lands against a named ticket with a code that can only be used once. At the gate, your team scans with a phone — and it keeps working when the venue WiFi doesn't.
We are not trying to be a global marketplace that happens to support M-Pesa. We started from how events actually get run in Kenya: mobile money first, tight margins, plans that change on the Thursday before the show.
Under 2 min
From signing up to a live event page you can share.
Same day
Request a payout and the money moves the same working day.
One scan
Each code opens the gate once. Forwarded screenshots bounce.
Offline gate
The scanner keeps admitting people when the network drops.
How it works
Four steps, in this order.
Nothing to install and no integration work. If you can post a poster, you can run an event on Salato.
-
01
Create the event
Name, date, venue, poster. Add as many ticket types as you need — early bird, regular, VIP, group of five — each with its own price and quantity.

Share one link
Put it in your bio, your WhatsApp status, your poster as a QR. The page carries your poster and your colours — buyers never wonder whose event this is.

Buyers pay, tickets send themselves
Payment goes through M-Pesa or card. The moment it clears, a PDF ticket with the buyer's name, ticket number and QR code lands in their email — and you see the sale in your dashboard.

Scan at the gate
Your door team opens the scanner on their own phones. Green means let them in, red means the code is fake or already used. Everyone scanning sees the same live count.

Questions organisers ask us
When do I get my money?
Request a payout from your dashboard and it moves to your M-Pesa or bank the same working day. You don't have to wait for the event to finish.
Can someone forward their ticket to a friend?
They can forward the file, but the code only works once. Whoever scans first gets in and the second scan shows red. You can also require the holder's name at the gate.
What if the venue has no network?
Load the guest list onto each scanning phone before doors open. Scanning continues offline and the devices reconcile with each other once a connection returns.
Do buyers need to create an account?
No. They enter a name, email and phone number, pay, and the ticket arrives. Accounts are only for organisers.
Can I cancel an event and refund everyone?
Yes — refund the whole event in one action or refund buyers individually. Our fee is returned on any refunded ticket.
